We had a great day with over 30 members that took time out of their own schedule to come out and lend a hand. We even had some brand new members come out with their kids and really made a day of it; truly fun for the family!! The weather worked in our favor with just a few sprinkles but it wasn’t long before people were shedding their coats.
By having these work bees, this gives us the opportunity to make improvements to the grounds that are beneficial to our club. This year we focused mainly on those nasty brush piles mixed in with the trees in the east field that tend to be a bird magnet. Once the birds get in there, it’s nothing but trouble for the dogs. So, down they came!! Now, the DNR has committed to burning the brush piles we left but when that will happen has not been communicated. At least we’re heading in the right direction.
This year we also brought along a log splitter so the wood was split right there. This made it nice for anyone who wanted to take home some firewood…….pre-split and ready to be stacked.
Lunch was provided by Pete – we had sausage (hot or mild), burgers and mac salad, chips and soda.
